Valentines Free Knitting Pattern Materials

Designed by Michele Wilcox.

Mug Hug fits mug 3” diameter on top, 2” diameter on bottom, 4” high.

RED HEART® With Love™: 1 skein each 1303 Aran A and 1909 Hollyberry B.

Knitting Needles: 4.5mm [US 7]. Yarn needle; 1 wooden toggle button, 1½” long.

GAUGE: 20 sts = 4”; 20 rows = 4” in pattern.

CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

Valentines Free Knitting Pattern Instructions

Mug Hug Begin at bottom edge with Color A, cast on 32 stitches.

Rows 1-6: [Knit 2, Purl 2] 8 times.

Row 7: [Kbit 1, Knit in front and back of next stitch, Purl 2] 8 times – 40 stitches.

Row 8: [Knit 2, Purl 3] 8 times.

Row 9: [Knit 3, Purl 2] 8 times.

Rows 10-15: Repeat Rows 8 and 9.

Row 16: Repeat Row 9.

Rows 17 and 18: Knit.

Button Loop: Bind off 39 stitches, (one stitch left on needle) cast on 14 more stitchess – 15 stitches. Bind off. Sew strip into a loop at top. Sew button in place on opposite edge.

Heart With Color B cast on 10 stitches.

Row 1: Knit.

Row 2: Purl.

Row 3: Knit in front and back of first stitch, Knit 8, Knit in front and back of last stitch – 12 sts.

Row 4: Purl.

Row 5: Knit.

Row 6: Purl.

Row 7: Knit 4, [Knit 2 together] twice, Knit 4 – 10 stitches.

Row 8: Purl.

Row 9: Knit 3, [Knit 2 together] twice, Knit 3 – 8 sticthes.

Row 10: Purl.

Row 11: Knit 2, [Knit 2 together] twice, Knit 2 – 6 stitches.

Row 12: Purl.

Row 13: Knit 1, [Knit 2 together] twice, Knit 1 – 4 stitches.

Row 14: Purl.

Row 15: [Knit 2 together] twice – 2 stitches.

Row 16: Purl 2 together. Fasten off.
