    RED HEART® “Soft Baby®”: 2 skeins 7881 Powder Blue

    Knitting Needles: 3.75mm [US 5].

    Crochet Hook: 4mm [US G-6].

    Cable needle, stitch markers, stitch holders; 2 buttons,

    Sewing needle and thread.

    GAUGE: 24 stitches = 4”; 32 rows = 4” in St stitch. CHECK YOUR

    Cable Pat A (Worked over 12 stitches):

    Rows 1, 5, 7 (Right Side): Purl 2, Knit 8, Purl 2.

    Rows 2, 4, 6: Knit 2, Purl 8, Knit 2.

    Row 3: Purl 2, sl next 4 stitches to cable needle, bring to front of work, Knit 4, Knit 4 from cable needle, Purl 2.

    Row 8: Repeat Row 2.

    Repeat Rows 1-8 for Cable Pattern A.

    Plume Pattern B (Worked over 17 stitches):

    Row 1 (Right Side): Purl 2, Knit 13, Purl 2.

    Row 2: Knit 2, Purl 13, Knit 2.

    Row 3: Purl 2, Knit 4 together, [yarn over, Knit 1] 5 times, yarn over, Knit 4 together, Purl 2.

    Row 4: Repeat Row 2.

    JACKET

    Cast on 134 stitches. Knit 8 rows increase 20 stitches evenly spaced on last row – 154 stitches. Place pats as follows:

    Row 1 (Right Side): Knit 5, place marker, * pattern A Row 1 over next 12 stitches, place marker, Knit 4, place marker, [pattern B Row 1 over next 17 stitches, place marker, Knit 4, place marker] twice, pattern A Row 1 over next 12 stitches, place marker, Knit 4; repeat from * once; Knit 1.

    Row 2: Slipping markers, Knit 5, * pattern A Row 2 over next 12 stitches, Knit 4, [pattern B Row 2 over next 17 stitches, Knit 4] twice, pattern A Row 2 over next 12 stitches, Knit 4; repeat from * once; Knit 1.Rows 1 and 2 establish pattern placement and Garter stitch between pats and at edges. Work as established, working appropriate rows of pats A and B until 7” from beginning, end pattern A Row 8.

     Divide-Left Front: Keeping continuity of pats, work across 40 stitches and place on holder; work next 74 stitches and place on holder; work remain 40 stitches. Work even until 7½” from beginning,end Wrong Side row.

    Buttonhole Row: Work to last 5 stitches, Knit 2, yarn over, Knit 2 together, Knit 1. Work even for 15 rows; repeat Buttonhole Row. Work 7 more rows, end Right Side row.

    Shape Neck/Shoulder: Work across 17 stitches at front edge and place on holder; decrease 1 stitch at neck edge every other row 3 times – 20 stitches. Work even until 5” above division. Bind off.

    Back: With Wrong Side facing, join yarn to 74 stitches on holder. Work even until back measures same as Left Front to shoulder.Bind off.

    Right Front: With Wrong Side facing, join yarn to 40 stitches. Work as for Left Front, reversing shaping and omitting buttonholes.

    SLEEVES: Cast on 36 stitches. Knit 8 rows, increase 7 stitches evenly spaced on last row – 43 stitches.

    Row 1 (Right Side): Knit 7, Purl 2, place marker, Knit 4, place marker, pattern B Row 1 across next 17 stitches, place marker, Knit 4, place marker, Purl 2, Knit 7.

    Row 2: Purl 7, Knit 2, Knit 4, pattern B Row 1 across next 17 stitches, Knit 4, Knit 2, Purl 7.

    Rows 1 and 2 establish pattern placement (Note: first and last 9 stitches are part of pattern A) and Garter stitch between pats. Work as established, working appropriate rows of pats, shaping sides by increase 1 stitch each end of next row, then every 4th row until there are 61 stitches, working added stitches into pattern A when appropriate, then into Garter stitch. Work even until 7” from beginning. Bind off.

     

    COLLAR: Sew shoulder seams. Knit 17 from Right Front holder, pick up and Knit 5 stitches to shoulder, 28 stitches across Back, 5 stitches down left front, Knit 17 from Left Front holder – 72 stitches. Knit 14 rows. Bind off.

     FINISHING: Sew sleeve seams. Set in sleeves. Sew buttons to Right Front band.

     HAT

    Cast on 69 stitches. Knit 8 rows, increase 14 stitches evenly spaced on last row – 83 stitches.

    Row 1 (Right Side): Knit 1, place marker, [pattern A Row 1 over next 12 stitches, place marker,Knit 4, place marker] twice, pattern B Row 1 over next 17 stitches, place marker, [Knit 4, place marker,pattern A Row 1 over next 12 stitches, place marker] twice, Knit 1.

    Row 2: Slipping markers, Knit 1, [pattern A Row 2 over next 12 stitches, Knit 4] twice, pattern B Row 2 over next 17 stitches, [Knit 4, pattern A Row 2 over next 12 stitches] twice, Knit 1.Rows 1 and 2 establish pat placement and Garter stitch between pats and at edges. Work as established, working appropriate rows of pats until 4¼” from beginning, end pattern A Row 8.

    Shape Crown: Keeping continuity of pats, bind off 29 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows – 25 stitches. Work even until 9” from beginning. Bind off.

    FINISHING: Sew 29 bound-off stitches to sides of center back piece, easing to fit.

    Bottom Band: With Right Side facing, pick up and Knit 22 stitches along right edge, 15 stitches along back, 22 stitches along left edge –59 stitches.

    Row 1 (Wrong Side): Purl 1, *Knit 1, Purl 1; repeat from * across.

    Row 2: Knit 1, * Purl 1, Knit 1; repeat from * across.

    Row 3-Eyelets: * Purl 1, Knit 1, Purl 2 together, yarn over; repeat from * to last 3 stitches; Purl 1, Knit 1, Purl 1.

    Row 4: Rep Row 2.

    Row 5: Rep Row 1. Bind off loosely in ribbing

    Tie: With crochet hook, make a 24” ch; sl st in each ch across. Fasten off. Weave through Eyelets.
