Off Shoulder Pullover Free Knitting Pattern Materials

  • Main Color : (98% acrylic, 2% rayon; 3 oz/85 g, approx 159 yds/145 m skein): #0002 Off White (MAIN COLOR), 5 (5, 6, 7) balls
  • Contrasting color: (100% acrylic; 6 oz/170 g, approx 315 yds/288 m skein) #9702 Off White (CONTRASTING COLOR ), 1 skein, all sizes
  • One pair each size US 6 and 8 (4 and 5 mm) needles, or size to obtain gauge
  • One size US 6 circular needle (29″ long)
  • 4 large stitch holders; yarn needle

GAUGE
In Stockinette stitch, 17 stitches and 24 rows = 4″/10 cm TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

STITCHES USED
Stockinette stitch (St st): Knit on RS, purl on WS.
Knit 2, Purl 2 Rib (multiple of 4 stitches)

Note: Work 2 rows using Main Color, then 2 rows using contrasting color for lengths indicated on all ribbed sections, carrying color not in use loosely up the side.
Row/Round 1: * Knit 2, purl 2; repeat from * across, end knit 2 if working back and forth in rows.
Row/Round 2: Knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches as they face you.
Repeat Row/Round 2 for knit 2, purl 2 rib.

Off Shoulder Pullover Free Knitting Pattern Instructions

BACK and FRONT (both alike)
Using smaller needles and Main Color, cast on 74 (82, 90, 98) stitches. Begin knit 2, purl 2 rib; work even for 8 rows, alternating Main Color and contrasting color every 2 rows.
Break contrasting color; use Main Color only for remainder of piece.
Change to larger needles and Stockinette stitch; work even until piece measures 10 (10, 10 1/2, 10 1/2)” from beginning, end with a Wrong Side row.

Shape Armhole: Bind off 3 (5, 6, 7) stitches at beginning next 2 rows—68 (72, 78, 84) stitches remain.
Decrease 1 stitch each side every row 3 (4, 5, 6) times—62 (64, 68, 72) stitches remain.
Decrease 1 stitch each side every other row 3 (3, 4, 5) times—56 (58, 60, 62) stitches remain.
Work even until piece measures 5 (5, 5 1/2, 5 1/2)” from beginning of armhole shaping; place stitches on holder.

SLEEVES (Make 2)
Using smaller needles and MAIN COLOR, cast on 46 (46, 50, 50) stitches.
Begin knit 2, purl 2 rib; work even for 8 rows Please check garment – picture looks like rib is longer than on the body, as for Back.
Change to larger needles and Stockinette stitch; work even until piece measures 10 (10, 10, 9)” from beginning, end with a Wrong Side row.

Shape Sleeve: (Right Side) Increase 1 stitch each side this row, then every 10 (6, 6, 6) rows 3 (6, 6, 8) times—54 (60, 64, 68) stitches.
Work even until piece measures 17 1/2 (17 1/2, 17 1/2, 18)” from beginning, end with a Wrong Side row.

Shape Cap: Bind off 3 (5, 6, 7) stitches at beginning next 2 rows—48 (50, 52, 54) stitches remain.
Decrease 1 stitch each side every row 4 (5, 6, 7) times—40 stitches remain.
Decrease 1 stitch each side every other row 5 times—30 stitches remain.
Work even until piece measures 5 1/2 (5 1/2, 6, 6)” from beginning of armhole shaping; place stitches on holder.

FINISHING
Set in sleeves; sew side and sleeve seams.

Collar: Place stitches from holders onto circular needle in the following order: Sleeve, Front, Sleeve, Back—172 (176, 180, 184) stitches; place marker for beginning of round.
Join MAIN COLOR and begin knit 2, purl 2 rib as follows: Knit 2 together (the seam stitch with the next stitch on Sleeve, knit 1; continue in knit 2, purl 2 rib across to last 2 stitches of sleeve, work last 2 stitches together (next to last stitch and seam stitch) in pattern; continue in knit 2, purl 2 around, working seam stitches together with adjacent stitches in pattern on all sections—164 (168, 172, 176) stitches remain.
Work even in knit 2, rib until Collar measures 6 (6, 6 1/2, 6 1/2)” from joining round. Bind off all stitches loosely in rib.

 

MACHINE WASH and DRY INSTRUCTIONS
Machine Wash: warm water, gentle cycle. Machine Dry: low heat, delicate cycle.
